A Passion
My passion for photography is based on emotions generated through the photographic art and my creative impulses. The attempt to catch, snag, capture, and hold in my hand a fleeting glimpse of a moment that affects me is my reason for using photography, besides the fact I cannot draw or paint anything recognizable. Not one to sit back and stay unattached to a place or a thing, I hunt for the unique, the detail, the perspective which catches my eye. Placing myself in the moment and reaching out with my senses to capture the smell, the feel, the air, the blessing of nature, the moment that I am right there, right now and nobody is experiencing this quite like I am. Exuberance, joy, and happiness enter and mingle with my spirit when I know I captured that fleeting moment to preserve and share with others.
With grateful thanks to the wonderful photographic community on the internet, Flickr, and Twitter, who are happy to share their tips, tricks, images, and techniques, I have increased my knowledge and skills in capturing images with greater appeal. My focus has been on photography of places and things. With the education gained from all of you, portraiture is becoming more interesting and I am stretching my boundaries to include new skills. Learning is my weakness and my strength.
I tell myself it is time to put the fear aside and share not only what I know with others in my own unique way but to share my images with the world by posting more on Flickr, capturing feedback, using this Blog to share my never-ending journey, and upgrading a website gallery of my best. I started on Twitter with a daily photo assignment before I knew about the 365Project, and decided after examining it, I was personally better off with my own “Today is..” postings. I created a spreadsheet with a random generator to help choose these daily assignments where I enjoy adding little details and ideas to go with each one. Soon, images from those assignments will be posted here and on Flickr.
My hopes are we can connect, share, and grow together through comments, communication, and inspiration.
I will write about photography, offer quotes, tips, tricks, and techniques, and share links, tutorials, photographers, and images I find inspiring.
Will you share the journey with me?
